What is Continuous assurance?
Continuous assurance is the practice of checking controls and AI system behaviour on an ongoing basis, rather than only at approval or audit time, so that problems are detected and evidenced between formal reviews. It relies on scheduled tests, monitoring signals and refreshed evidence.
For AI, this matters because systems and their data change after launch. Examples include re-running control tests on a schedule, tracking drift indicators and flagging evidence that has passed its review date. It complements, and does not replace, periodic independent audit.
