What is Post-market monitoring?

Post-market monitoring is the systematic collection and analysis of data on how a high-risk AI system performs after it is placed on the market, so providers can detect problems and take corrective action. The EU AI Act requires providers to run a system and plan proportionate to the AI technology and risks.

Article 72 sets the requirement, and the plan forms part of the technical documentation. Deployers support it by monitoring operation and passing information to providers. Findings can trigger updates to risk management, incident reports and reassessment.
