What is NIST AI RMF core functions?

The NIST AI RMF core functions are Govern, Map, Measure and Manage. Govern builds the culture, accountability and policies for AI risk; Map establishes context and identifies risks; Measure analyses and tracks them; Manage prioritises and acts on them. Govern applies across the other three.

Each function is broken into categories and subcategories of outcomes, and the framework's companion playbook offers suggested actions. Organisations commonly map their own controls and evidence to these outcomes to show how they cover the framework.
