Access control & roles

Company administrators manage who belongs to the Company and what each role can do. Project-level membership is managed separately in Team & Access.

In the app
Account menu → Access Control (tabs: Roles, User Management)
Who can use it
Multi-user plans (Business, Enterprise, Platinum) and the Company Admin role or an equivalent Access Control permission.

Roles

  • Built-in roles carry a Built-in badge and stay in step with the product as features are added. Company Admin is protected and has every company permission.
  • Choose Create role to define a custom company role from individual module permissions.
  • On single-user plans the account owner's role is set by the plan: Starter owners are Observers and Professional owners are Consultants.

Invite company users

  1. 1Open User Management and choose Invite user.
  2. 2Enter the email address and choose a company role.
  3. 3The person receives an email invitation that is valid for 7 days. Accepting it lets them set a password or link an existing account.

Each invited user takes a seat. Invitations are refused when your plan's user limit is reached.

Company and project access

A company role decides what someone can do across the workspace. A project role, assigned in Team & Access, decides what they can do inside one project. Linking two records needs permission to update the record you start from and to view the record you link to.
