AI governance policies

AI governance policies are your organisation's official rules for governing AI, versioned and approved in each project.

Policy lifecycle

  1. 1Create a policy, or choose Start from template.
  2. 2Tailor its scope, roles, requirements and wording.
  3. 3Use Move to {next status} to advance it: Draft, Under Review, Approved, Published, then Superseded or Archived.
  4. 4Editing an approved policy creates a new version and returns it to Draft.
  5. 5Use Export governed record to download the current version as Markdown.

How policies connect

Framework requirement → Organisational policy → Control → Test and evidence.

  • Example policy: high-risk AI recommendations require human review.
  • Approving a policy automatically adds it as evidence to the controls it is mapped to.

Moving a policy to Approved does not capture a formal approver. For a recorded sign-off, use Request decision with the action Sign off.
