Remediation is the corrective plan used to resolve a Finding or control deficiency.
Remediation loop
Failed Assurance → Finding → Remediation → Verification or Re-test.
- 1Link the source Finding and relevant Risk.
- 2Assign an owner, corrective actions, and due dates.
- 3Record updates and evidence of the change.
- 4Verify the fix or re-test the control.
- 5Close only when the deficiency is demonstrably resolved.
Completion is not effectiveness
Finishing a remediation action does not automatically prove that the control works. Verification should test the corrected operation and preserve evidence of the result.
