Corrective actions

A corrective action is the remediation plan that fixes a Finding. It closes only once the fix has been verified.

Project → Identify & Remediate → Corrective Actions

Remediation loop

Failed assurance → Finding → Corrective action → Verification → Retest.

  1. 1Choose New Action (or Create remediation on a finding) and link the Finding it fixes.
  2. 2Add steps with owners and due dates. Steps can be Pending, In Progress, Completed, Blocked or Skipped.
  3. 3Work the plan. It moves through Not Started, In Progress, Blocked and Pending Verification.
  4. 4When every step is completed or skipped, choose Record Verification with evidence or a note. Approved marks the plan Verified; Rejected sends it back to In Progress.
  5. 5Choose Close Plan. A plan can close only when its latest verification is approved.

Completion is not effectiveness

Finishing the steps does not prove the control now works. Use the Re-assurance link to retest the control or evaluation that raised the finding, then update the finding's status.
